Hello and welcome. My name is Sian Willis, I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I am an accredited member of the BACP and a member of the BABCP.
Life's too short to be unhappy or unfulfilled so what's holding you back? Let me help you learn better ways to handle the issues that are standing in the way of your pursuits.
About me and my practice
I've helped my clients break through the obstacles that hold them back in life. By asking the right questions and empowering them with the necessary tools and techniques, I help my clients take action in pursuit of their goals and ambitions.
Often individuals are faced with difficult and sometimes overwhelming challenges, I have had the opportunity to work in collaboration with the person so that they find their own solutions. Working in a way to empower individuals lead me to pursue counselling and then to specialise in the approach of CBT.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a counselling approach that empowers individuals to bring about changes in their lives.
The theory behind this model is that our thoughts, feelings, what we do and how our body feels are all connected. If we change one of these we can alter the others.
When people feel worried or distressed we often fall into patterns of thinking and responding which can worsen how we feel. CBT works to help us notice and change problematic thinking styles or behaviour patterns so we can feel better. CBT has lots of strategies that can help you in the here and now.
Experience
Working as a Therapist for over 10 years, my experience is in the field of substance misuse and trauma.
Although my practice is specialised in the field of addiction, I have worked with anxiety, depression, self esteem, grief, Panic, OCD, and unhelpful patterns of thinking.

Initial Consultation
Once I receive your contact details, we will then arrange an initial appointment that is convenient for us both. The initial appointment is sometimes referred to as an assessment. This is an opportunity to learn more about you and your presenting problems, and is also an opportunity for you to decide whether or not you would like to work with me, and whether the therapy I offer is appropriate for your needs.
Sessions last 1 hour and during the assessment we will discuss a treatment plan and potentially how many sessions you may need, although this can vary as you work through the process. Typically many problems can be addressed within a few sessions, but for others the work maybe more longer term, depending on the presenting problem. I ensure we are on track with your goals, by holding timely reviews.
